Playa del Carmen

A refuge for travelers wanting to escape the crowds and huge hotels of Cancun, Playa del Carmen is big enough to be fun, but small enough to be manageable. The town is amazingly cosmopolitan, especially considering it's main business area is only 10 blocks long.  Playa del Carmen is cooler and more upscale than ever before. Nicer restaurants, better looking people, the works. Zoning regulations keep the hotels smaller than Cancun. Ferries run from downtown a to Cozumel all day, and it is only an hour to Cancun by bus or car (busses run continually). 10 years ago the town was just a fishing village, with the ferry pier for Cozumel and a good bus station to bring people to the ferry.

Restaurants:      There is a surprisingly wide range of restaurants and bar:

Yaxche Restaurant  DonEmilione  Blue Parrot
